We're happy to be able to host another meetup at the Microsoft Reactor in the heart of Shoreditch. The doors open at 6:30 pm with the talks starting at 7 pm.Come meet your peers and listen to our wonderful speakers!

7 pm - Surasti Puri - The Best Laid Plans

Surasti is an illustrator and designer who works at Small Media Foundation. Previously she has worked as a design consultant for EMBARQ, a sustainable transport research lab and has freelanced as a designer for Reuters, Experian, Penguin, WIPRO, and more. Like every ambitious designer she decided to take a break and do a masters in Persian Art History. The next logical step after that was data visualisation. She will talk about stumbling into the world of data viz and working on a data driven project that attempted to visualise the war in Yemen. She will dive into the process of collating and cleaning the data, creating a narrative, a visual language and eventually a dashboard.

7:30 pm - James Carruthers - The joys of analogue

James talks about the joys and pitfalls of putting pen to paper by way of computer controlled hardware. From making old technology talk to a modern machine, to writing efficient code and choosing pens and paper.
